This talk provides a summary of the known results about supersymmetric (BPS) black holes in AdS$_4$ in the context of gauged N=2 supergravity. Several approaches to classifying such objects are discussed, based on event horizon topologies and AdS slicings as well as on asymptotic superalgebras. Special attention is paid to the static 1/4 BPS black holes with non-constant scalars, which show some similar features to asymptotically flat extremal black holes. These solutions are further discussed from a holographic point of view, with a schematic proposal for finding the dual superconformal quantum mechanics on the horizon.
