AdS/CFT and the Dilaton

AdS/CFT and the Dilaton

The AdS/CFT correspondence has become an excellent tool to describe strongly interacting systems. One of its most famous applications is the Randall-Sundrum 5D construction, from which many phenomenological ideas, relevant e.g. for the hierarchy problem, have arisen. In this talk I will present one of the latest, a new dual of a spontaneously broken CFT deformed by an almost marginal operator. In this setup a light dilaton degree of freedom is obtained, a large hierarchy between UV and IR is reproduced, and the dynamical contribution to the cosmological constant from the spontaneous breaking is suppressed, all of it without fine tuning. Some of the potential cosmological implications will also be discussed.
