The KPZ equation describes the motion of a front separating a stable phase from an unstable one. In joint work with T. Sasamoto, we obtain an exact expression for the probability distribution of the height at a single space-time point in case of sharp wedge initial conditions. I will explain how this solution is achieved and how it provides information on the universality of the KPZ equation. (Note: unusual day)
