In this talk we describe the basic objects associated to an isolated hypersurface singularity: the link, the Milnor fiber, the monodromy. Various classes of singularities, such as the simple ADE singularities or the weighted homogeneous singularities will be discussed as examples. The connections between topology and algebra will be the main theme.
