I will discuss some features of ALE partition functions of 6d theories. For M-strings and M-string orbifold theories, we can compute these quantities explicitly exploiting a chain of string dualities. Time permitting, I will also comment on a relation of these observables with higher DT invariants. Based on joint works with Guglielmo Lockhart.
