M-theory, foliations and stratified G-structures
I discuss the foliations approach to the most general N=1 and N=2 flux compactifications of M-theory on eight-manifolds, highlighting topological aspects and the connection with non-commutative geometry. I also describe recent results on the description of stratified G-structures which arise in such compactifications, using the tools of semi-algebraic geometry.
