Investigating subleading effects in the structure of the protonat high energy
The standard description of electron-proton cross sections suffers from divergent behaviour at high energy. I will explain the origin of this problem, and describe the general framework in which it can be overcome. A recent analysis of scattering data has suggested that one must increase the accuracy of the high energy calculation, and I will outline how this can be done by making use of earlier results which consider the correct energy behaviour of gluons in the proton.
