In this talk I review how the structure of singularities in hyperKahler cones can be deduced from an algorithm of quiver subtraction. From the math / geometry point of view, this allows shedding new light on certain classical objects like nilpotent orbits or the moduli space of instantons. In physical terms, the subtraction corresponds to the Higgs mechanism, viewed from a dual (magnetic) perspective.
