The Planck satellite has set a new frontier for cosmology, providing the most accurate measurements of cosmological parameters to date. It also left us with a number of new, interesting mysteries that might hint to the discovery of new physics. Current and upcoming CMB ground-based experiments will be able to explore these questions further, hopefully providing new insights into these problems. In this talk, I will review the results from the latest release of the South Pole Telescope Third generation (SPT-3G), and I will present prospects for the future. I will also present forecasts and preliminary results from the extended SPT-3G survey, which is a combination of the 1500 deg2 baseline SPT-3G fields with data covering additional 3000 deg2 that are observed during the summer season.
