I will consider models with spontaneous symmetry breaking by scalar fields in large group representations. Besides the obvious Goldstone bosons, some additional scalars happen to be accidentally light, as their masses are loop-suppressed. Such light accidents may have several potential applications, from dark matter and inflation in cosmology, to fine-tuning and hierarchy problems in particle physics.
