Working Environment
In a CEA center, the Institute of Theoretical Physics (IPhT) is a joint CEA/CNRS research unit with a staff of around 120, including 35 CEA physicists, 15 CNRS physicists and around 60 doctoral and post-doctoral students.
The position is attached to the support group, which is made up of 7 people (3 managers, 2 IT specialists, 1 documentalist/communicator, 1 administrative assistant) covering a wide range of missions. The administrator works under the responsibility of the unit’s administrative manager. The position is based at l’Orme des Merisiers, close to the main CEA/Saclay site (91).
Permanent positions
Two permanent-researcher positions, expected to be filled in 2026, are currently opened at the IPhT:
- the first concerns foundational and theoretical-physics aspects of AI in a broad sense. This includes the study of AI through theoretical physics and statistical physics in particular, as well as AI developments applied to theoretical physics. See https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/31686 for details and applications.
- the second concerns the phenomenology of the standard models of the two infinities. This includes the standard model of cosmology (e.g. physics of the early Universe, large scale-structures or gravitational waves), and the standard model of particle physics (e.g. QCD and heavy-ion physics). See https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/31687 for details and applications.
