Welcome to Hyungjin Kim

Welcome to Hyungjin Kim

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Hyungjin Kim to IPhT as he begins his permanent position. Dr. Kim’s research is in the fields of theoretical particle physics and astrophysics, with contributions to ultralight dark matter detection through a variety of astrophysical, cosmological and laboratory probes.

He has investigated detection strategies that include astrophysical observations, such as stellar dynamics, gravitational waves detectors, such as pulsar timing arrays, and quantum sensors.

After a PhD at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, he joined the Weizmann Institute of Science for a post-doctoral position then the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg for a junior faculty position.

At IPhT, his expertise will reinforce ongoing efforts in dark matter theory, cosmology, and particle phenomenology, while opening new avenues for collaboration on the interface between cosmology, particle theory and quantum sensing. We look forward to the scientific exchanges his presence will foster within the institute and the broader community.

Welcome to Hyungjin!
