The digital communications team of the Saclay CEA’s DCom unit (Communications Department) is opening the way by shooting short, highly dynamic videos of visits to CEA laboratories. This short format ‘Tu me fais visiter’ takes us through the Research at CEA. Visiting the IPhT, the team was able to explore the physical and mathematical laws that govern our Universe. Since the 1960s, CEA scientists have been studying theoretical physics, from the secrets of black holes to the mysteries of quantum particles.
A lot of scientists work especially hard on quantum computers. These machines are based on the laws of quantum mechanics to perform calculations that are impossible on so-called ‘classical’ computers.
The road to functional quantum computers is still long and hard. Quantum bits are highly sensitive, and it is important to develop methods to protect the information they contain. These techniques, known as ‘quantum error correction’, use surprising quantum phenomena such as the superposition of states and entanglement.
