The thrust distribution in electron-positron annihilation is a classical precision QCD observable. In the last years the state-of-the- art for theoretical prediction evolved from NLL+NLO to NNLL+NNLO, allowing for a reanalysis of data collected at different electron-positron colliders. New extractions of the strong coupling constant, with reduced theoretical uncertainties, were performed and also the description of non-perturbative corrections was extended. In this talk I will review the recent developments and present a recent determination of the strong coupling constant in the context of the dispersive model for non-perturbative corrections.
