As highlighted in the attribution of last year's Nobel Prize in Physics to A. Aspect, J. F. Clauser and A. Zeilinger, Bell experiments play a key role in the development of quantum information science. By providing a means of distinguishing the predictions of quantum theory from local models, these tests make it possible to directly probe fundamental properties of nature in a way that is independent of the devices employed. This work briefly presents a Bell experiment performed with superconducting qubits, the current leading platform for quantum information processing. Next, it discusses the first realization of device-independent quantum key distribution guaranteed by a Bell score. Finally, it shows how Bell tests can be used to describe elements of quantum theory, such as states, measurements or quantum channels, directly from the statistics observed in a scenario where the devices employed are modeled only as black boxes.
