The dynamics of elementary and composite particles can be described using the framework of effective field theory. Effective field theories are relevant for a plethora of phenomena, ranging from high-energy particle collisions, to condensed matter systems, and to the merger of black holes. The techniques from effective field theory can be fused with modern methods for scattering amplitudes.
We will explore two research areas where the union of scattering-amplitude and effective-field-theory methods is beneficial:
A) Gravitational waves from black hole binaries
B) Physics beyond the Standard Model at high-energy colliders
