In this talk, I'll give an introduction to a recent set of ideas initiated by Cachazo-He-Yuan, revolving around a new way to formulate the perturbative expansion of quantum field theories, based on the so-called ``scattering equations''. \par I'll explain that this formalism comes from remarkably simple chiral string sigma models, surprisingly not discovered before, known as the ambitwistor string. These models can be seen either as a holomorphic complexification of standard first quantized quantum mechanics, or as a chiral limit of standard string theory. \par The work I'll present then consists in showing that it has a sensible quantum regime (i.e. show how to deal with loop amplitudes), unlike the standard twistor string, thereby giving for the first time a practical way to do quantum mechanics with twistor-like string models. \\ \\ No knowledge of string theory or twistor space will be necessary as the talk intends to be self contained.
