Mandelbrot Cascades are random multi fractal measures which exhibit a freezing transition as a temperature parameter is varied. They were originally introduced as a simple model of intermittency in turbulence but have after that found a range of applications in physics and mathematics. I will discuss their basic properties and discuss a few applications including multi fractal wave functions at the Anderson transition and Liouville gravity.
