I will discuss a geometric character encoding information about BPS operators of SCFT. This can be used to compute volumes of Sasaki-Einstein metrics, as well as a generating function enumerating holomorphic functions on the related Calabi-Yau cones. In the context of AdS/CFT, this is interpreted as counting certain BPS states of the dual gauge theory, and computing the spectra of their R-charges.
