Mariana Graña of IPhT has been awarded an ERC consolidator grant for her project "Deconstructing the string landscape". Congratulations Mariana !

Despite its uniqueness, string theory has a “landscape” of effective partly phenomenological low-energy solutions with very different observable physics. The objective of her project is to "deconstruct" this landscape, and determine what parts of it can be promoted to consistent full-fledged string theory solutions, and what parts are inconsistent. It aims at understanding if the present geometrical landscape paradigm can be put on solid ground, or if more inventive alternatives such as “non-geometric landscape” have to be searched.
