We are delighted to learn that Jean-François Le Gall, professor at Université Paris-Sud/Paris-Saclay, has been awarded the prestigious Wolf Prize in Mathematics 2019.

Jean-François Le Gall is a specialist of probability theory and of the Brownian motion. Over the last twelve years, he worked on the topic of "random maps'' which form the basis of a mathematically rigorous formulation of bidimensional quantum gravity. Several researchers from IPhT have the pleasure to interact with him regularly in this very active field, for instance during the Journées Cartes or the Itzykson Conference 2015 where he was an invited speaker.

Congratulations to him!
